Fiddlers by the River - weekend event
Friday night, May 9th- Contra dance at the Elkin Municipal Park Rec Center
Saturday afternoon, May 10th- Fiddlers by the River with the Kruger Brothers and numerous other bands. Music from 11am to 7pm at the Municipal Park. Free event, with parking at a nominal fee.
The Yadkin Riverkeeper is also offering a paddle event that morning to paddle from Rhonda to Elkin, then head over to the Fiddler event. Contact the yadkinriverkeeper.org for sign up information.
Yadkin Valley Wine Auction Friday night, May 16th, located at The Liberty banquet hall at 222 E Main ST, downtown Elkin. Yadkin Valley Wine Auction funds, benefiting Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital Foundation will advance healthcare in our community. Items donated: wines, trips, jewelry, original art, furniture, clothing, fine dining, decorator items, & more. The menu will be heavy hors d' oeuvres. EVTA Trails Boogie, coming Thursday, June 5th!
The 2014 Trails Boogie will be held Thursday evening, June 5 at the Liberty in Downtown Elkin. Celebrate with Elkin Valley Trails Association at their annual fundraiser with Dennis Gruenling and Doug Demming with the Jeweltones. These award-winning musicians are back for the fourth year and have become a part of the EVTA tradition. Enjoy a great community celebration of our area trails and all the volunteers and supporters who have made it all happen! Admission is free and donations to EVTA are welcome. Food, cold beverages, trails information, silent auction, dancing and some awesome jump blues/swing music will make it a night to remember!

Meet with a ranger at the Visitor Center at 11 am for a hike to a local still site that got destroyed by local ALE officers in the late 1950’s. We will also discuss the history of moonshining.

Meet with a ranger at the A Loop Washhouse at 2 pm to learn about the different mammals that live in Stone Mountain.

celebrate's it's 125th Anniversary on Sunday, May 4th beginning with Sunday
School at 9:45; pre-service music at 10:45; historical video at 10:55; ringing
of the original steeple bell at 11:00 to call us to worship; covered dish lunch
following worship. All friends and former members are invited to join in this
First United Methodist Church Preschool. Our goal is to provide a safe place for children to learn important social, emotional, physical, and language skills in a Christian environment. Our Mother's Morning Out Program is on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00am to 1:00pm. This is for children ages 9 months to 3 years old. We have qualified and experienced teachers for each age group.
Our Pre Kindergarten Class, for the 4 year old children, is either a 5 day a week program or a 3 day a week program. This depends on your family’s needs and desires. Your 4 year old can come all 5 days of the week from 9:00am to 1:00pm or you could choose for them to only come on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
