Jason Couch writes book on Elkin for Images of America series

Jason Couch has written a book on the history of Elkin, complete with over 200 photos of long ago. It was published by Arcadia Publishing, which does a series on Images of America, and it is available for purchase at Elk Pharmacy, where Jason works as a pharmacist. Jason has collected Elkin history for years, and understands the importance of preserving its history. Yadkin Valley Craft Guild's new location and Grand Opening Party!

The Yadkin Valley Craft Guild on has moved a few doors over to their new location, 126 W Main St, next to Royall's. Now they are able to show off their beautiful crafts from local artisans in a spacious showroom! There are also rooms now for classes, lectures, and demonstrations, as well as sewing and photography space. The YVCG serves artists from the 18 counties in the Yadkin Valley, and welcomes new members (juried upon request) with mediums in wood, clay, fiber, metal, jewelry, glass, lea...

Boy Scout Troop 648 (located at First United Methodist scout hut) "Scouting for Food" Drive

The Boy Scouts of Elkin Troop 648 would like to thank the community for all of their participation in the food drive last weekend. The troop estimates about 1300 pounds of food (150 bags) were donated by Elkin residents for those less fortunate in the area. Thanks to everyone who contributed, it was greatly appreciated!

Trout streams, suspension bridges, mountain-bike tracts, horse trails, walking trails, plus parks and campgrounds near the Yadkin River...is this all a dream? Well, it did start as one, but now the Elkin Valley Trails Association is trying to make all of this a reality for Elkin, and the process has begun! Janet Moseley, USTA North Carolina's Adult Tennis Female Player of the Year for 2011

The USTA North Carolina honored Elkin's Janet Moseley with the J.S. Love Adult Tennis Female 2011 Player of the Year. The awards ceremony was held at Pinehurst Resort last Saturday, January 28th. The US Tennis Association honored 31 contributors to the game of tennis who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion and support of tennis in North Carolina. Congratulations Janet!
