The Reeves Theater Project

The Reeves Theater. If you are new to Elkin, you may know nothing about it. However Robin Turner and Cicely McCulloch took on this huge project when no one else had the energy. Their vision is to make our downtown theater, which was once the center of entertainment in Elkin, alive again with activities for the community to enjoy. Elkin Valley Trails Association is hard at work making Elkin a hub of activity and excitement! There are big plans for 2012 with meetings, trail workdays and eventually trails you can enjoy along the Overmountain Victory Trail and the Yadkin River.... and they are also planning for a campsite at Crater Park for rafters who will be conquering the Mighty Muddy Yadkin, all to improve the community's quality of life for residents and tourists alike!

Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital 2012 Annual Leadership Class

The leadership classes started in 2001 when HCMH's Hospital Director of Development/Foundation Executive Director, Jeannette Hendrick, wanted to educate the public about what Hugh Chatham could offer citizens of the Yadkin Valley. Julian Charles Robinson, Elkin Resident, to go on expedition in Greenland

Elkin, NC – Last week Elkin Rotarians heard from local photographer and adventurer Julian Charles Robinson who presented photographs from his expeditions around the world. Mr Robinson titled his show ‘While it’s Still Here’ and uses his photography to display how quickly glaciers and icecaps around the world are disappearing due to climate change.

He culminated the talk by announcing his place as team photographer on a world-first expedition taking place in Greenland this spring.

Julian Charles is looking for ways to get information, input, and conversation about a future mountain bike trail in Elkin. The EVTA has asked him to put together a single-track mountain bike section, and he is trying to find interested bikers.
