SRM Paintwerks will be featured on #BikerLive!

The gang at SRM Paintwerks will be featured on the new Discover Channel show #BikerLive! on May 19th. They'll need your votes to win and will be competing against 2 other businesses in the country on that episode where bike shops compete to build their dream bike. Tune in and vote!  The display for their shop is on N Bridge Street, but the body  work is done in State Road.

Mr Ericksen's Middle School class on 9/11

Today (9/11) was community service day for Elkin City Schools. Mr Ericksen's 7th grade class had to choose a project to help their community.

They decided to help pick up trash along the downtown streets and Crater Park.

They put on their safety vests and gloves and headed out...

Phillip from Yadkin Valley General Store gave them a bag of delicious gummy chicken feet for their hard work!
 

They started even before they left the parking lot of Town Hall...

Two years ago, my friend, Crystal Morphis, and I were on a long training run and talking about how much our lives had changed for the better once we started running.  Both of us agree that running has taught us things about ourselves we might not have known, and it made us better people in all sorts of ways. That's when the idea for G-Force, a running program for girls in grades 3-6 at Elkin Elementary School, was born.

Surry Beekeepers members during Saturday's Field Day

The Surry County Beekeepers Association held its latest annual field day and certification Saturday the 14th, in Mount Airy. Albert Cockerham hosted the event for the members that had completed the 10-hour Beekeeping for Beginners Course of Study, held from Feb 20-March 19.
