Posted by Laura Gaylord c/o Town of Elkin on Monday, March 6, 2017, In : Elkin residents make news
In the most recent AAA motorist magazine called "Go",  our very own downtown restaurant, Roxxi and Lulu's Bistro and Bakery, was mentioned as a must go location when visiting the Yadkin Valley!

We are so excited to have them here in Elkin.  They are located one block south of Main Street in downtown Elkin, on W Standard Street.  They're open Tues - Saturday for breakfast and lunch, and are now open for dinners Thursday and Friday nights! Food is freshly prepared with lots of tender loving car...

Elkin Trails offer a fabulous walk filled with beautiful scenery

Posted by Laura Gaylord c/o Town of Elkin on Sunday, May 18, 2014, In : Elkin Trails News

Elkin's trails are now open for enjoying walks along Big Elkin Creek. The Elkin Valley Trails Association has been working hard to get these trails open to the pubic. Last Friday, a new bridge was installed to carry hikers over Big Elkin Creek and extend the trail closer to their goal.  You can start at Elkin's Municipal Park and walk along this trail up to a gong which you can ring to sound to the world, you have conquered the trail.

This is one fun and fabulous feature of the trail, and uni...

First mural in Elkin, by NC muralist Michael Brown is a hit!

Posted by Town of Elkin c/o Economic Development Dept on Friday, August 16, 2013, In : Downtown Elkin

The first mural (seen here in progress) is of two historical landmarks that are no longer here in Elkin. One is of the Elkin train depot that used to be located on S Bridge Street next to the RR tracks (behind Twenty One & Main) and the other is of Hugh G Chatham Memorial Bridge that was torn down by the DOT in 2010.  Both are dearly missed, but the images of them bring back the fond memories we have of them. This mural is sponsored by Elkin Antiques and Collectibles Mall through the Main Str...

Elkin area residents, Madeline and her father Jay Morphis, have a special project they just completed. Together, they have created Teddy's Adventures, a new children's book that they wrote and illustrated together. Living in the country provides lots of fun things to do on sunny days, but on rainy days, Madeline found she liked to draw.

At age 7, her favorite stuffed animal was a pink bear named Teddy. Teddy followed Madeline everywhere, and soon she and her dad noticed Teddy was always on th...

Fun article shows that Elkin is putting itself on the map...  Yes, we are definitely worth a visit for a day or a weekend. It's nice to see others are seeing us as a great destination (something we all quietly knew), but little do they know we are a great place to live as well!

Devin Reavis is an Elkin resident that is making quite a name for himself in the racing world. Since February of 2012, Devin has participated in 16 races, most of which he travels out of town with his family, but this is a sacrifice they are all gladly making. The n...

One minute the window you drive by has a huge painting catching your attention. The next time, you notice colorful images strewn across a store front, or a display that looks so fabulous, it draws you in. Who is responsible for all of this color, creativity and artistic flair along our downtown streets? It Elkin's own Eris Ball, who came up with this idea last Spring, after reading an article in Food and Wine Magazine. The article featured a woman who enjoyed creating fun spaces in her refrig...
