Dedication this Veterans Day to Mark Garner

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7794 of Elkin recognizes Mark Garner, a local area Afghanistan War Casualty with the changing of its post's name and the dedication of a local trail in his honor. The National Veterans of Foreign Wars approved the renaming of Post 7794 to the CAPTAIN MARK GARNER Post in September 2014 and the Town of Elkin approved a request to name a section of trail within Elkin Municipal Park in his honor at the October 6th Town Board Meeting.

Elkin's "Surry County Farmers Market" welcoming additional vendors...

Surry County Farmer's Market Gearing Up Surry County is fortunate to have two farmer's markets. Both of these markets are committed to selling local produce and crafts. Customers can be assured that the food they buy is from real farmers who have produced that product. Preparations are in progress for the opening of the markets. There will be a "Vendor Informational" meeting for any farmers or crafter who is interested in participating in the markets. The meeting has been scheduled for March ...

New signs are up

Many of you may not know we have a Civil War Marker that was installed last year across from the library. Our new signs will direct visitors to the location. Stop by and read about our little house on the hill....during the Civil War...just follow the signs!
