Posted by Laura Gaylord on Thursday, April 12, 2012, In : Elkin residents make news

Elkin is the eastern trailhead that was included as a part of the victorious campaign to the Battle of Kings Mountain in 1780. The Wilkes-Surry Chapter of the Overmountain Victory Trail Assoc is keeping the story alive through education, preservation and interpretation. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities from re-enacting to grant writing. For more information, please contact RG Absher, Chapter President, at 336-902-1760 or absher-r@juno.com.
