This little gem on Main Street in Elkin was once the old E&A ticket office for the train that is no longer in existence. Today, you can stay overnight in downtown Elkin and experience a blast from the past in this cute and cozy VRBO rental.  The restoration look over a year and it is beautiful, inside and out. Reevestock Music Festival listed in top 8 music festivals for Charlotte area events

Reevestock Music Festival is held during the first weekend in August each year at Elkin's Hidden Amphitheater. It's an amazing event not only because it has a great music selection, but also because the venue is so unique to the state. This year Charlotte Five listed it as a festival not to miss, and even featured a photo of Reevestock as their main photo lead!

Friend of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail Annual Conference to be held in Elkin!

Reeves Theater Renovation Underway!

The gang at SRM Paintwerks will be featured on the new Discover Channel show #BikerLive! on May 19th. They'll need your votes to win and will be competing against 2 other businesses in the country on that episode where bike shops compete to build their dream bike. Sam Cason finishes 136th in the country!

Sam Cason took a trip to Ohio for a fencing tournament this weekend and did pretty darn good considering this is the top 6% in the country that qualified to compete! He finished 136th. Sam's Mom, Barbara, attached a picture from the state games in Mooresville a couple of weekends ago. He finished 25th in the state which is a little different because in the state games there was no age limit. He had to fence grown men who were bigger and stronger than he was. Next week I am riding my bicycle from Elkin to Raleigh over three days, taking photographs along the way, and attending three Climate Convergence events. Folks from around the state are converging in Raleigh - by bicycle - to have a say on the future of humanity and our Earth.

There are gatherings in Winston Salem at 5pm Thursday April 18th,Greensboro at noon Friday 19th, and all weekend 20th-21st in Raleigh. Follow the links to find out more.

The Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) is a long-distance trail, for hiking and  backpacking, that runs across North Carolina from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks. Elkin is the eastern trailhead that was included as a part of the victorious campaign to the Battle of Kings Mountain in 1780. The Wilkes-Surry Chapter of the Overmountain Victory Trail Assoc is keeping the story alive through education, preservation and interpretation. Jason Couch has written a book on the history of Elkin, complete with over 200 photos of long ago. It was published by Arcadia Publishing, which does a series on Images of America, and it is available for purchase at Elk Pharmacy, where Jason works as a pharmacist. Elkin, NC – Last week Elkin Rotarians heard from local photographer and adventurer Julian Charles Robinson who presented photographs from his expeditions around the world. Mr Robinson titled his show ‘While it’s Still Here’ and uses his photography to display how quickly glaciers and icecaps around the world are disappearing due to climate change.

He culminated the talk by announcing his place as team photographer on a world-first expedition taking place in Greenland this spring.
