New winery opens in Elkin!

This morning (Sunday) a small, brave group of Elkin Valley Trail Association adventurers, decided to try a launch from Elkin Creek Vineyard and float down to the park in Elkin. 

Joe Hicks provided the photos of the crazy Creek Runners taking off this morning.

Bill Blackley, Sandy Blackley, Bob Larson, Frank Spence, and Rick Chatham participated in the event.



I heard they made it safely and I hope to add more to their story at a later date!

Hailey Dries played violin, guitar and sang her original music. She is originally from Winston-Salem but now lives in Nashville.

Many came up to hear her play.

The tasting room was very busy...

with all the seats taken around the room.

She played and sang many songs and had a terrific voice as well.

It was hard to decide which direction to go in first....

Wine Stomp 5K run and fun run at Grassy Creek Winery - 1st of a 4 part series

The Wine Stomp was held today at Grassy Creek Vineyard. This is the 1st of a 4 part series and each event will benefit an organization in need. For this event, all proceeds will go to The Ark.

Many gather around at the starting line.

Jim, one of the owners of Grassy Creek, fills the runners in on the event and the rocky road ahead.

Grassy Creek had live music, local pottery artists, and chocolate from Blue Ridge Chocolates Saturday. During the warmer months, they offer a Second Saturday series of live music and other goodies for you to enjoy!

Grassy Creek Vineyard's Valentine Weekend Dinner and Music was fabulous!

This event was held Saturday evening from 6:30-10:30pm in the Tasting Room at Grassy Creek, and all were in for a real treat!
 


Grassy Creek had a wonderful evening which included a delicious Italian buffet



which most enjoyed with the release of their new Red Barn Blend...
 




 
Some had special occasions they were celebrating...

And some came to enjoy fun, friends, and great food...

Thirsty Thursday at Slightly Askew...definitely worth a stop!

When Slightly Askew wants to shake up the weeknight dull-drums, they put out a sign in the front yard declaring tonight is "Thirsty Thursday Night!".  





Next time you see the sign, stop on over and enjoy the evening! It's a terrific alternative where you can enjoy fun, wine by the glass or share a bottle with friends, and usually there is something yummy to eat as well!

Heaven's Scent catered a beautiful spread for those who stopped in.

Many enjoyed wine tastings and hot spiced wine which was delicious!

Libby Haynes provided a beautiful selection of holiday music on her guitar.

And the weather was comfortable enough that many sat outside and enjoyed the day.

Slightly Askew's Passport Event, Saturday, November 12th

Saturday, November 12th, Slightly Askew opened their doors to a steady flow of wine lovers throughout the day. They offered a wonderful variety goodies to nibble on, and their specialty this weekend was Strawberry Wine Cupcakes made with their "Reel Good" wine. 

Outside, on the back porch, Luke Mears performed to the crowd who enjoyed cozy couches and plenty of seating. It was beautiful fall weather, and everyone who came had a terrific time.

Saturday afternoon, the weather was perfect for an outing to Carolina Heritage for their Bluegrass Jam. 

Only a few musicians were able to make it out today, but they were jammin and have a great time, just the same.

demand) with her band.

The guests are greeted with a taste of their new Riesling.

The band was terrific and Martha Bassett has a beautiful voice,
word is they may be working on a Christmas album...

Everyone enjoyed Jamaican pork skewers, black bean soup, butternut
